AWS Class ER80S-B8 MIG and TIG filler rods and welding wires are utilized to weld 9Cr-1Mo steels that are utilized in high-temperature, high-pressure services. They are generally carbon-bearing (0.0815 percent), manganese-bearing (0.30-0.60 percent), silicon-bearing (0.50-0.80 percent), chromium-bearing (8.00-10.50 percent), and Molybdenum-bearing (0.90 -1.10 percent) with low levels of sulfur and phosphorus. They have tensile strength of 620-760 Mpa, yield strength of 500-600 Mpa and elongation of approximately 20%. ER80S-B8 has high creep resistance, oxidation-resistance, and strength under high temperature and is best suited in welding of material used in power plants, boilers, and refinery systems.
