What is AWS Class ER2209 MIG and TIG Filler Metal ?

AWS Class ER2209 MIG and TIG filler metal and welding wire is a duplex stainless steel which offers a balanced chemical composition of about 22% Cr, 9% Ni, 3% Mo and 0.15% N that offers excellent corrosion resistance and strength. They provide dual stage microstructure of austenite and ferrite, which guarantees high toughness and stress corrosion cracking resistance. Mechanical characteristics are typical tensile strength of about 770 Mpa, yield strength of about 550 Mpa, and elongation of 25 -30 percent, which characterize ER2209 to be ideal in the demanding industrial and marine applications.
