What is AWS Class ER308/308L MIG and TIG Filler Metal ?

AWS Class ER308/308L MIG and TIG filler welding wires and rods are developed to be used to weld austenitic stainless steels such as 304 and 304L. Their characteristic chemical composition consists of C 0.03% max (ER308L), Cr 1921, Ni 912, Mn 12, Si 0.75, and that which composes the balance is Fe which offers them great corrosion resistance and weldability. Mechanical characteristics are the tensile strength of about 515-580 Mpa, the yield strength of about 205-350 Mpa and the elongation of about 3040%. These fillers maintain consistent arc properties, clean deposition of the weld, as well as of high quality and enduring joints, which may be operated in both MIG and TIG welding.
